Message to all members

21st  September 2020

The Government advises that the situation with regard to Covid 19 is currently serious and likely to deteriorate further.  As a result, from 14th September the Government has introduced legislation greatly limiting the size of groups that can safely meet both indoors and outdoors.  The Trustees have reviewed guidance from the Third Age Trust and other national organisations and are not satisfied that Camberley U3A group activities can be conducted in a practical and safe environment.  Venue restrictions on capacity, room cleaning and general sanitation requirements have proved to be onerous.  Practical common sense and great care for our Members have been our guiding principles in these considerations. Under the present circumstances we do not believe because “we can, we should”.

The Trustees have made the decision to halt all face to face meetings both indoors and outdoors for the rest of the autumn term as the best way to safeguard our Members at this time.

We will continue to monitor Government legislation, venue restrictions and other guidance as it is issued and will keep Members updated via the newsletters and the website.

Zoom meetings will continue as advertised in the timetable on our website.  Members are encouraged to use these facilities where they can.

If members wish to meet independently to walk or carry out other activities, then that will be a personal decision and not done under the auspices of Camberley U3A.

We would like to thank those Group Leaders who have already done a great deal of work for their group to restart.  Your work will not be wasted and we all look forward to enjoying being part of our great organisation again in the not too distant future.

We thank you all for your continued support as we take these difficult decisions
